We'd been thinking about getting a kitten for some time (and it didn't help visiting Angi and Forest and playing with their new kitten, Gizmo). We called on ones we saw in the paper, but they were always gone by the time we called. So, on a lark one Sunday, we went to Petsmart--but there weren't any kittens. So we went across the street to another pet store and they had a bunch! We looked at a cute tabby, but really liked the two kittens (sisters) who were sleeping on each other! But two? Two kittens? Were we insane? Apparently, because we took them out to play and totally fell in love with them and walked out with them! We just didn't have the heart to split them up!
Fuzzy didn't mind too much. He followed them around a little bit, then would go away, then would sneak back to see what they were doing. They would come up and sniff at him and then make a sudden movement and Fuzzy would back off. Other times, he'd chase after them at a dead run. I don't think he's exercised so much in one day since...since ever. LOL There has only been one hiss (when a kitten bit his tail) so...so far so good.
One set of curtains already has some snags, they LOVE hiding under the dining room chair covers (they hang almost to the floor), and they love climbing up EVERYTHING (we've been spoiled by clawless Fuzzy). We didn't get the Midnight Crazies like we thought we would--just a few hours of roaming that kept us up the first night, but after that (well, so far), it's been clear sailing. (They sleep at our heads on a bed on the headboard.)
They still don't have names...the ones Tom likes I don't and the ones I like he doesn't. He's jonesing for Groucho and Pesto (I think they sound like boys names) and I'm jonesing for Charlie and Izzy.
P.S. We're crazy with the camera. I whittled down the 163 pictures to a mere 30 for your enjoyment. LOL
Update: Thursday, I decided we HAD to name the kids. So we compromised somewhat and we now have Bella (after Hurricane Isabel) and Charlie (after Charlie Chaplin—she has a cute moustache-like spot under her nose).
