It was chilly and rainy again so Katie and I stayed home while Tom and Owen went to the ceremony. I felt guilty because I should have been taking pictures… But you’ve seen one opening ceremony you’ve seen them all…right?!
And another parent sent this pic so I’m happy.
It was our turn to host tonight and we had a small group as two families couldn’t make it… But we made up for it in craziness.
The group selfie…
And then we had Katie take a picture!
And then one of the kids mentioned Pie Face and we had whipped cream for the dessert, so… There was lots of this.
So, this happened:
Of course, it was the exact tire that had the last nail… And apparently since it was close to the edge, the guy said there was a chance the repair might not hold and it would split. GRRRRRREAT. How am I supposed to feel comfortable driving on that?!?!?! The tires are original and they are 2-3 years old…so we talked about getting new tires. And then as fate would have it, Costco was having a sale on Bridgestone tires, so off we went and $800+ later I feel safe driving again.
I think it’s hers now as it’s too ratty and if I need it again I’ll buy it again (it was cheap).
Watching games is a lot more fun now that the kids really kind of know what they’re doing. They’re pretty consistent with hitting the ball (Owen hit all three at-bats) and there are even close plays on bases!
They were clearance and I had coupons so I agreed.
So, once again this year I convinced Owen to leave the Easter Bunny a note requesting something other than candy—I told him it went so well before that it might work again. So, Owen wrote this note:
And the Easter Bunny left this note:
And gifts!! Along with a very few hidden eggs with gummy candies, Owen got a Nexo Knights costume, Katie got a Lego birthday cake, and they got a Pokémon Magikarp hat to share!
Some Tivo peeps met for breakfast before flights out…
Nancy was helping me with a Jamberry manicure and Ken decided he wanted a few nails done as well.
Nancy and I tried to recruit two friends to the wonderful LipSense world today…and I introduced them to my infamous (?!) stairwell shooting location. 😊
Tammy and Amy helping me roll bread balls for garlic bread bites.
The whole group!
We need a bigger table!
The dessert table! Eddy helped me make a cheese flan (with a caramelized top) in the instant pot (far right) and it turned out great! And Amy brought three cakes from Juniors Cheesecakes!
This is why we need better outdoor space! This is where everyone always wants to congregate and we only have eight chairs with barely enough space to hold them!
The party mostly died out by about 11 and just a handful of us stayed talking to about midnight. It was a great night with great friends…
Trying out each other’s lipsticks before heading out to lunch! Neither of us liked the colors on us but liked the colors on the other!
In Occoquan! Nancy and Eddy gave us grief over the name and called it something different every time they said it which was hilarious. I think Khakakan was our favorite.
Our lunch that took forever and a day. Excellent food, awful timing.
Uncle Eddy showing off the awesome portrait camera setting on the iPhone 7+ (blurred background). I want it badly but the phone is just TOO big.
So tonight was a dinner out in Alexandria at one of our favorite places, the Green Pig Bistro.
Katie put her skirt on right away (it actually even matched what she was wearing) and they LOVED the candy in the bunny egg.
This was the weekend of our first (of potentially two) going away parties… And it was all for the TiVo peeps! (We debated having just one party but that would be soooo many people!)
Ones of the goals was to pare down our alcohol stash…
And freezer contents… This is like four racks of ribs (another two went in the instant pot).
I picked it up…
Then Owen wanted to hold it… And it immediately peed on him (notice his disgust).
Are these even starfish? Where did they come from?! They must have been really buried deep in the rock or sand because we haven’t added anything new in probably a year!!
Especially after my hair nightmare earlier this week. She definitely saw lots of breakage but thankfully my hairstyle hides it well.
And this is what it looks like when my hair is being dried and styled—since I have so much hair, my stylist grabs anyone else available to help. (I had the kids with me—and they had their iPhones since we were in Occoquan—so I texted Owen to take the picture.)
And look at what we found on the walk to the salon…
And testing a new lipstick when I got home.
