My first time out shopping in 18 days.

I was really struggling about if I should go out shopping or not. One part of me thought it’s stupid to worry—we’re healthy. Even if we were unlucky and did get it, we’d likely be okay. But the other party of me says why chance it? We can live without 100% of the things on my Sam’s Club list. But if I’m going out for a “must” (I guess milk is a must since the kids eat so much cereal) why not get the other stuff as long as I’m there? It’s one less trip we’ll have to make in the future.

I’m in my little bubble—I haven’t been out in 18 days, Tom 13 (minus a drive by pickup). I have stayed off media for the most part. I’m really more concerned with other people. Like I wonder how stores are? Busy? Lines? People being awful or good? Like I wouldn’t mind going as much if I can walk in and walk out. If I have to stand in line with 100 people who are not social distancing I’m gonna lose it.

I went back and forth discussing with Anna—and eventually decided that I was making myself more crazy worrying about it than if I just went out and did it. So off I went to Sam’s. This is what it looked like.

They were only letting in 100 customers at a time. It took me 20 minutes to get inside the store. I wasn’t rushed but I did want to get in and out as quickly as possible. People kept their distance for the most part. I ended up getting more things than I planned just because I could. I didn’t check on toilet paper because we didn’t need it, but they were entirely out of pasta (all kinds) and spaghetti sauce (I normally don’t buy jarred sauce but Owen uses it for his instant pot dinner).

I’m glad I went but now our clock is reset at zero days.

On the positive side? I picked up some new margaritas since I’m all out of my old favorites that I stocked up on last year. Fingers crossed they’re okay.

Troubleshooting Post

Don’t you love it when something that has been working flawlessly suddenly starts throwing errors for no reason you can figure out? I love technology, but some days… That said, don’t you really honestly love it when you post on the help forums for said issue and someone actually responds and wants to help? Gotta say I love WordPress.

So…this is a just test post from a different link that I never even knew existed. I love learning new things. 🙂

Maggie scared the hell out of us tonight. Again.

It’s hard to get back to sleep after you’ve been awoken at 3:30am by your dog screaming (seriously, that’s the best way to describe it…and it’s seriously awful) because she’d gotten her mouth/snoot/teeth hooked between the bars of her crate and her paw was bleeding from scratching at it.

If Tom wouldn’t have been here I’m not sure what I would have done. We didn’t even have tools big enough to cut the wires—he had to bend them with brute force until they broke.

We wondered what on Earth was going on…until we realized it was raining again. She must be REALLY messed up from that lightning strike.

(Much after the fact we both said we really wish we would’ve gotten a picture of it because it was truly unbelievable. Honestly, I had thought about getting a picture but I had left my phone upstairs because we hadn’t expected to find anything insane…and we were too wrapped up in extracting her safely to worry about it.)

So we bandaged her paw and Tom stayed up (since it was almost his normal waking time) and I was up—trying to calm down—until about 6am when I finally crashed.

This is the solution Tom had come up with by the time I rolled out of bed at 9:30.

It’s not perfect but we really don’t want to let her free roam if we can help it as she tends to move around quite a lot at night and wakes us up.

She doesn’t seem too worse for the wear. Thankfully.

Katie’s first official Lego build!

The official Lego rules state that you have to be six years old so we’ve been playing by the rules…but at the last build they asked why she wasn’t building and we said because she wasn’t six yet. They told us they don’t care and to just sign her up. YAY!

Of course Owen was done in a few minutes, but she kept at it and did it with barely any help!

Me: Owen, put your Lego robot away.

Owen does nothing and wastes time.

Me: Owen, put all your Legos on a tray and put it on the other room.

Owen: Why do I have to?

Me: Because it can’t stay in the middle of the floor right where everyone needs to walk. Put everything away on a tray.

Again he does nothing.

Me: Owen. Legos. Tray.

I see him moving stuff around.

Me: Owen, did you seriously just push everything in a pile against the wall? GET. A. TRAY.

Welcome to today’s hell.

A gift to Katie from a well-meaning aunt. While Katie does love puzzles, of course she doesn’t have the attention span for this (hell, I barely do) but she really wants to color it. If it was up to me I’d just throw it in the trash (well I’m not an idiot, I’d give it away). But guess who will end up doing it all?? Her face just about sums it up for me too. 😂

A friend is going to come help Friday.

Ugh. Again.

When you finally realize that the fabric softener explosion from two weeks ago actually did run down the floor vent and came out through the duct and then dripped through the basement ceiling tiles and down the wall (and ledge!) and all over a plastic storage container (it’s going in the garbage because I have literally ZERO patience to clean it), all over a pile of Legos, and then pooled on the floor.

Kidisms 41

Katie: No one has blonde hair but me. You have brown hair, you have brown hair, mommy’s hair is brown, and daddy has gray hair!

I’m trying to not have Katie watch too much TV, but how can I resist when she says “Mom can I watch WordWorld so I can learn my letters and how to spell?”

Katie: Mom, you forgot my card for Jonah. Owen drew happy birthday on it because I don’t know how to happy birthday draw.

My shirt said so.

A bunch of baseball parents went out tonight for Cinco de Mayo. This is our obligatory date night selfie:

And my obligatory lipstick photo (these are how I post them in my Facebook group):

And the obligatory margarita photo with my Mommy needs a margarita shirt in the background. (This was the most appropriately-themed piece of clothing I had for the holiday.)

What was funny is that as we were sitting down, all the girls gravitated towards one end so the table was split into boys and girls.

F-It Friday #4

It was our turn to host tonight and we had a small group as two families couldn’t make it… But we made up for it in craziness.

The group selfie…

And then we had Katie take a picture!

And then one of the kids mentioned Pie Face and we had whipped cream for the dessert, so… There was lots of this.
