I hit the Nerf motherlode at a thrift store yesterday.

All three for $13. No bullets but they don’t really care.

To good to wait until Throwback Thursday.

Owen’s half birthday pool party!

Once again this year, Owen decided to have his birthday party at the community pool with Costco pizzas and cake (which I forgot to get a picture of)! The trade off is that many of his friends are away on vacations…but even though we had a small turnout and it was about 110°, everyone had fun!

After his party, one of his friends came back to spend a few hours. They had fun playing Xbox and then building Legos.

After he left, Owen opened his gifts and was COMPLETELY GEEKED to get some Ninjago Legos, a bunch of Pokemon cards, a Nerf bow and arrow, a Star Wars board game, and $15 cash. This was my favorite card he got:

And it didn’t take long before Owen and Katie had their noses buried in Pokemon cards.

Chalk turns into war. Of course.

My protector!

Protecting me from zombies, minotaurs, and poop-ball-throwing purple dragons. :)

Owen at the bus stop

Playing guns by himself while being first in line to get on the bus!

Fire, Fireworks & Stones

Gramma Jean wanted to try out her new fire pit…so we all headed outside. The kids loved running around and of course Owen had to get out his new water gun. :)

Uncle Rob was nice enough to go in and fill up the water gun…but surprised Owen by shooting him! It’s blurry but I love Owen’s body!

She stayed pretty far from the fire once daddy yelled at her for getting too close. :)

Smoke bombs! They certainly didn’t last as long as I remembered them to…

Katie liked the pooping dog—except for the popping and crackling at the end.

In addition to Katie’s first fireworks (MUCH earlier than Owen’s first fireworks!), she also got her first sparkler. She was okay with it…but not thrilled.

And then we all went out to the front yard looking for Petoskey stones in the landscaping.

My boy and his guns.

He was running around the back yard like this.

He did this perfectly but of course I wasn’t recording. I had him do it again and you get the idea.

Mama is it okay?

Owen: Mama, is it okay to go outside and play?
Me: Yes.
Owen: Cool. Is it okay to wear my Crocs?
Me: Yes.
Owen: Cool. Mama, is it okay to take Gramma Jean outside?
Me: Laughing. Well I think you need to ask her.
Grandpa: Just wait until we get her harness. :)

Gramma put a pair of Katie’s old socks on her hands—and she loved it!

Attack of the Fart Blaster

My little hunter

20130722-083302.jpg

Owen: Mama, I’m a hunter. This is my rifle and my pistol.

The pistol was his reward for being a good boy during his haircut yesterday. :)

A new gun…

Technically it’s a toy for Maggie…but of course it’s really for Owen. Or at least that’s what HE thinks! :)

A gun lesson

20130326-175332.jpg

I made the top gun. Owen said no, grabbed it, edited it, then gave me the bottom one and said “machine gun.”

I held it with one hand and he said “No! Use two hands!”

Well…he IS right. :)

Smart kid!

Robot legs as guns. Of course.
