So you think there’s no shoe? Look again.

Today is Katie’s clothes.
Today Katie and I tackled her drawers. We took each item out and decided if it was time to let it go or keep it. She did pretty well, actually, but I did have to step in a few times and prompt her to get rid of some things that were bordering on too small or that she had bigger sizes of in her closet waiting. She also learned how to fold her clothes so they would fit nicely in her drawers. She actually had fun doing it—we’d let them watch the show with us so they’d have an idea what was going on.
She wanted to get rid of this wig until I made her try it on and then she loved it. Bad move on my part. 🙂
After about two hours we had this:
Plus a packed garbage bag of clothes and shoes to give to friends!
She had quite the outfit.
It was more impressive without the coat and with the skirt fully flounced. Nothing matched at all.
That’s not really helping, Maggie.
This is where Maggie had to be when I was helping Owen sort clothes in his new room.
OMG I MISS THIS LITTLE GIRL.
I made her wear new jeans.
It’s often a fight, and it took two days, but I got her in her new jeans today. She loved that I suggested the sequined tank top and jacket, too. She did end up putting boots on, though, shoved I hadn’t noticed the cuffs were cut short for a more summer look.
This happened by accident tonight.
Katie and her new pink heels.
I happened to end up at Payless today and the whole store was 40% off….so of course I couldn’t pass up super cute and cheap shoes for Katie. (I might have gotten like 8 pair. How can I resist when they were like $5-8 each?) Owen is in men’s sizes now (!!) so his options weren’t nearly as plentiful, but he did get new winter boots since he’s about 1.5 sizes bigger than last winter!
Anyway, there were some small heels for Katie, so of course she wanted to wear them immediately. They are only for house wear right now as they’re still a little too big…plus they’re summer shoes. But she loves them!
This is what I got today, minus the pair in the above photo plus two pair of dress shoes. And I might go back after I see what shoes she has for this winter. (I do keep a collage of all her shoes on my phone, but I do buy an odd pair here and there that I don’t track.) We’ll see.
I also had Owen gather all his shoes so I could see if he needed any more—he’s basically a tennis shoe kid so not nearly as fun to buy for. So he may get more than just boots!
Cookie Monsters
Charlie loves Owen’s new winter coat.
We found a great Lands End coat for Owen at the Salvation Army today. It must have come from a house with pets because Charlie went crazy on it. Rubbing and pawing and just laying on it.
Katie’s shoe sorting.
I buy too many shoes (on sale) for Katie to remember what styles and sizes I have so I have to keep a photo collage to reference when I’m out shopping. Today we had to redo it since it hasn’t been done in about 2-3 sizes.
Owen is harder to buy for—here’s what was in his closet. 🙂
Sock sorting!
Granny took on the huge challenge of cleaning up both kids rooms and switching out too-small and seasonal clothes…and one of the last things for Owen was a sock matching party.
Surprise twinsies!
Katie put these leggings on today so I surprised hey by putting my matching ones on, too!
She’s definitely got her own style.
Gone are the days when I could get her into super cute outfits without question…
You see the whole outfit, right? With the Halloween socks and gold shoes? 🙂
This is what she played outside in today. And I kept my mouth shut.
It was literally 30° out. She only lasted about 10 minutes…if that. Did I win? 🙂
She’s definitely my daughter.
I did this at her age, too…

She wore what I picked!
She likes to wear season-inappropriate clothes most of the time so I was amazed she wore what I picked out. I love Owen’s shirt on her… And it won’t fit for much longer…
She also LOVES the new high tops I got her that have jewels on them and light up. I loves me a resale shop.
Hat Day in honor of Dr. Seuss.
I’ve given up on getting her to match leggings. 😂
Not one normal picture.
I wanted to take a picture of Katie in these 24-month pajamas and this is what happened.
This is what happens on laundry day.
We’re ready Santa!
Land’s End might need to hear about this.
I had this coat when I was in high school—I think maybe my junior/senior years. Then I gave it to my Aunt Marge and she wore it forever. She just gave it back to us for Owen…and it’s a bit big but he doesn’t care. He LOVES it. I might need to write Land’s End about this one. (I also know I have one picture of me in it, but it’s black and white in a yearbook…and I have to find it. Stay tuned.)
Wildcat Wednesday
Exact opposites!
How hilarious is this? Look at their outfits!
