Today is Katie’s clothes.

Today Katie and I tackled her drawers. We took each item out and decided if it was time to let it go or keep it. She did pretty well, actually, but I did have to step in a few times and prompt her to get rid of some things that were bordering on too small or that she had bigger sizes of in her closet waiting. She also learned how to fold her clothes so they would fit nicely in her drawers. She actually had fun doing it—we’d let them watch the show with us so they’d have an idea what was going on.

She wanted to get rid of this wig until I made her try it on and then she loved it. Bad move on my part. 🙂

After about two hours we had this:

Plus a packed garbage bag of clothes and shoes to give to friends!

Katie and her new pink heels.

I happened to end up at Payless today and the whole store was 40% off….so of course I couldn’t pass up super cute and cheap shoes for Katie. (I might have gotten like 8 pair. How can I resist when they were like $5-8 each?) Owen is in men’s sizes now (!!) so his options weren’t nearly as plentiful, but he did get new winter boots since he’s about 1.5 sizes bigger than last winter!

Anyway, there were some small heels for Katie, so of course she wanted to wear them immediately. They are only for house wear right now as they’re still a little too big…plus they’re summer shoes. But she loves them!

This is what I got today, minus the pair in the above photo plus two pair of dress shoes. And I might go back after I see what shoes she has for this winter. (I do keep a collage of all her shoes on my phone, but I do buy an odd pair here and there that I don’t track.) We’ll see.

I also had Owen gather all his shoes so I could see if he needed any more—he’s basically a tennis shoe kid so not nearly as fun to buy for. So he may get more than just boots!

Land’s End might need to hear about this.

I had this coat when I was in high school—I think maybe my junior/senior years. Then I gave it to my Aunt Marge and she wore it forever. She just gave it back to us for Owen…and it’s a bit big but he doesn’t care. He LOVES it. I might need to write Land’s End about this one. (I also know I have one picture of me in it, but it’s black and white in a yearbook…and I have to find it. Stay tuned.)
